Etiquette

DRESS CODE

If you are going to be on camera at any point, you MUST wear clothes. We know, it sounds silly, but we don't really have a "dress code" otherwise. You can even wear pajamas! The ONLY thing we ask is, if at all possible, please don't wear white. You probably know about the tradition already, but we'd like to retain that element.

ZOOM

You do NOT have to have your camera on for the Zoom call—it is optional.

When you enter the Zoom meeting, enter your display name as the name you want to be called and pronouns. For example: Ali (she/her). If you are with another person on camera, list what you can. Also, if you're someone we know from cosplay/fandom, please put the username/cosplay name we would recognize you from in your display as well!

Please keep the chat window clear for requests to say hi.

If you enter the reception and we are in a breakout room speaking with someone else but you only have a few minutes to pop in, please tell us in the chat! We will try to keep things moving.

We will do our best to keep breakout room chats brief at the start of the reception so that we can say hello to everyone. We'll be happy to go around for a second round once we've greeted everyone.

When it is time for a line dance, we will leave the breakout rooms to join you all in the main room so we can dance along and watch you dance. What line dances can you expect? Well, we can tell you that you might hear the Chicken Dance, Cupid Shuffle, Tokyo Polka and Macarena, but there might be even more!

We will keep everyone in the main room on mute EXCEPT for toasters during their speeches. Toasters include our brothers, Ian and Adam, as well as one of our best friends who couldn't be here in person, Fey.

OTHER

Do not bring up ANYTHING political or make jokes about the current pandemic during our reception. If you break this rule, we reserve the right to remove you from the Zoom call.

Please do not swear in the main reception room. There might be underage people present or in earshot!

You don't have to dance at all! But if you do, we will display the recommended style(s). As you know, Trickssi/Jen is a dance instructor at anime conventions and loves to host formal dances that accommodate many tastes and styles. Some of them are up for interpretation and have secondary dances listed, as well. Our playlist is all ages!

If you are sharing space with someone who is immunocompromised and/or someone you don't live with, please wear a mask. YOUR HEALTH IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN OUR WEDDING. That's part of why we chose to do it this way! We can't tell you how devastated we would be if you got sick from gathering for our wedding despite our best efforts to keep you safe. Please let us get to spend all the coming years with you! This is just the start of our married life and we want you to be there for our family's growth and life events.
